Graham & Theresa WhelanFriend and Fellow Cricketer at Leinster Cricket Club

To Jennifer and Family,

Words can’t express how sad that Paul has passed. Firstly, please accept our deepest condolences for your loss. Over 20 years I knew Paul through our love of cricket and playing together. I got to see Paul as a wonderful captain and as a friend not just to me but to all. His humour shone through and his weekly match reports were something to always look forward to. While a competitor on the field, he was nothing but a gentleman off it. Many a night was spent till the early hours in the club bar talking cricket, writing the world wrongs, supping on Guinness, the numerous Gin & Tonic’s for the road and just having the craic and talking nonsense. He was a true friend and I will miss him.

I hope that, even though your world is so dark right now, I hope that you will soon able to see some light in the memories you had with Paul. Be kind and gentle with yourself. Take your time. I know your grief must seem insurmountable. Please know that I’m thinking of you and praying for you. I know that you will never forget him and I hope you’re able to soon remember the happy memories and hold tight to them.

Wishing you all the peace and comfort possible.
