It was with sadness that we learned of Michael’s passing and on behalf of the School of Physics at UCD I express our condolences. On a more personal note, as a fellow physicist and distance runner, Michael will be remembered fondly and I am privileged to have known him.
I learned this sad news some months after the event. Knew Michael quite well in the past. We were good friends at times in the past and then we lost touch. Michael was bright, interesting and well informed. Great company and great dinner companion. Accomplished distance runner. I followed his athletic career including his Olympic appearance for Ireland.
I only heard today of Michael’s passing an year and a half later.very sorry to hear the sad news.have fond memories of Michael in his parents house in ballymun from when I was a child ..may he rest in peace..Brian.
