Victor Hill (Vic) Murphy

Kildare, Celbridge

The death has occurred of Victor Hill Murphy (Vic), Celbridge and late of Orlando, Florida, peacefully at home, surrounded by his loving family and in the wonderful care of the nurses of St Bridgid's Hospice, Kildare, and the Daffodil & public health nurses, on Friday March 13th, 2020.Sadly missed by his loving wife Bernie, sons Lucas, Patrick, Ronan and Cian, Mother Robin, Siblings Eva, Sarah, Robert, and Ed, grandchildren Avery and Adrien, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, relations, neighbours, work colleagues and very many wonderfully supportive friends.May he rest in peace.Regrettably, in light of the current health crisis, we have been advised that the house and funeral service should be limited to relatives. We would hope to hold a memorial event celebrating Vic's life in the future after the current health measures subside. We're foregoing a physical condolences book to avoid any health risks but messages are welcome in the condolences section below.Donations, if desired, to The Irish Cancer Society and/or St Brigid's Hospice, Kildare would be much appreciated. Finally, we'd like to express our heartfelt thanks to all who have assisted and supported Vic and the family over the past few months.

The Family would appreciate if you could leave a message to be put into a book of condolences for the family.

Roger Hoffmann and Lucinda Smithloving friends,

To Bernie, Paddy, Ronan & Cian, and all family and friends of Vic’s, we extend our deep sympathy in our shared loss. Vic is forever part of me and he’ll come out every once in a while; as I expect with everyone else who was part of his life. So perhaps he does remain always with each of us who had the privilege of knowing him.

Bernie and sons, I am so sorry for your great loss. Vic was a kind and gentle man who will be missed by many. I pray for peace and healing for your broken hearts.

Jim SpurgeonOld,Old Junior High School and Boy Scout Friend

Dear Bernie & Sons,
Your husband and dad was one of the best friends that I have ever had. He & I have spent dozens of camp outs sharing the same tent when we were both active in scouts.
We never got into too much trouble for the pranks we pulled on each other or fellow scouts.

Victor & I, with others learned a lifelong lesson about not aggravating cattle. We chased 4 or 5 cows over a hill while trespassing on a ranchers property, the cows then got about 2-300 of their friends and came charging after us. We learned quickly what a stampede was.
Thankfully all of us went over, under and through a barbed-wire fence to safety. The barbed-wire scratched several of us pretty good, but nowhere as bad as what the cows could have done to us.
I believe that I might have met Bernie and your children at The Murphy’s house many years ago when your family were visiting. At that time, one of your children was a newborn. Hope your family is well. Victor was a great boy and then a great man and I think of him often. We talked just a day or two before he passed. Love to all. Jim
